Yi-Mei Su, an ISU student, had a fatal car accident when she was fifteen years old. After that, she had been through craniotomy for 13 times. After her father died of cancer, she and her sister have to take care of their mother who is suffering from a heart disease and a kidney disease. Su indicated that she really appreciated ISU for giving her so much assistance and the Ministry of Education for the subsidies for the underprivileged. For the past year, she had received a subsidy of NT$43,000 from the MOE.
