Haiku is an important part of the Japanese culture. Ito En, a Japanese drinks company, has held the Ito En Oi Ocha New Haiku Contest for many years, attracting thousands of competitors from 3 to 80 years of age. Students of the Department of Applied Japanese also took part in the contest and took 17 awards. In addition, President Chen felt honored that ISU received the “Excellent School Award.”
