Students from the Department of Physical Therapy have achieved outstanding results in the Senior Professional and Technical Examination for Physical Therapists over the past few years. This year, once again, they delivered impressive results, with recent graduates Hsuan-Jen Ouyang and Hsiao-Shen Chang securing 1st and 3rd place nationwide, showcasing their exceptional performance. This year, 27 ISU students passed the exam, with a pass rate surpassing the national average of 21.41%. These remarkable achievements set a solid foundation for their future careers.
Ouyang, who earned first place in the Senior Professional and Technical Examination for Physical Therapists this year, originally studied in a sports program at a vocational school. His love for sports led him to experience injuries during training, which helped him understand the significant benefits of physical therapy for athletes. This realization drove him to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Reflecting on his choice to study at the Department of Physical Therapy, Ouyang noted that ISU is one of the few comprehensive universities in Taiwan with a college of medicine and a strong healthcare system backing it. Additionally, ISU offered a dedicated exam review class, where teachers provided summaries of key topics and essential past exam questions. Ouyang expressed his happiness at passing the national exam, as it not only proved his comprehensive understanding of his studies over the four years of university but also laid a strong foundation for his future career. He sincerely thanked ISU and his teachers for their guidance and encouraged younger students, saying that with determination, anyone can achieve top scores in the national exams.
Chang, who ranked third nationwide, shared that he initially studied in the social sciences track in high school and was admitted to ISU through the Star Plan. Over his four years at the University, he participated in a sports protection club, helping to promote knowledge in sports medicine and protection. During his exam preparation, Chang received support from multiple sources, including the University’s review classes, shared notes from senior students, and study exchanges with peers, all of which greatly aided his readiness for the national exam. He hopes to contribute to society in his future career. Department Chair Chien-Liang Chen remarked that his students have consistently excelled in the national exam in recent years. Chen noted that the students are highly motivated, eager to share insights from class, and benefit from the dedicated support of their professors, fostering a strong academic atmosphere and unity within the department. This success reflects the combined efforts of both students and faculty.
Health medicine and intelligent technology are the leading fields today. With a powerful “iron triangle” of the College of Medicine, the College of Medical Science and Technology, and the College of Intelligent Science and Technology, along with comprehensive support from its affiliated healthcare system, ISU provides a wealth of resources and a diverse learning environment for both academic research and practical clinical work. This robust foundation has established ISU as a national training base for elite talent in medical technology.
