Bui Anh Cuong: A Rising Star in International Business
Daniel But also know as Bui Anh Cuong is a distinguished Vietnamese alumnus from the Department of International Business.He is pursuing a master’s degree in International Business Management at National Taipei University of Technology, focusing on customer acquisition for startups. During his undergraduate studies, he gained experience as a research assistant, marketing assistant, and business development specialist.
Passionate about public speaking, Bui self-studied to enhance his skills, becoming a speaker at his university’s TEDx event in 2021. He later led the Toastmasters international public speaking organization, guiding his team to the top 8 in the 2024 Hult Prize Thailand Regional Final, recognized as the world’s largest student entrepreneurship competition.

Choo Min-Rui: A Passionate Academic Journey

Choo Min-Rui is an Assistant Professor in Finance at an esteemed university and Deputy Executive Director of the Office of Sustainable Development. Originating from Malaysia, she began her academic journey in Taiwan at I-Shou University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Finance. She completed her Ph.D. in Finance in 2021. Her research focuses on sustainable finance, robo-advisors, and socially responsible investing. Living in Taiwan for over a decade, she feels “half Taiwanese.” Min-Rui has published multiple papers in respected international journals and led government-funded research projects. She is committed to teaching and mentoring in ESG, personal finance, and corporate governance.
Norin Firyaal: A Culinary Talent
Norin also know as Chen Rui-Huang, an exceptional alumnus from the Department of Culinary Arts and an international student hailing from Indonesia, showcased remarkable skills during her internship at Shangri-La’s Far Eastern Plaza Hotel in Tainan during her junior year. Following her graduation, she secured employment right away, and this year, she achieved first place in the Room-Temperature Cake category at Taiwan’s Cake Art Competition.
While pursuing her studies, Chen Rui-Huang joined Department Chair Li Chien-Sheng to compete in the prestigious IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany, where their team was awarded a bronze medal in the Chocolate Art category. Additionally, she took part in the I-Shou University Cultural Ambassador contest, earning second place in the English Public Speaking category.

ISU: A Hub for Global Talent, Empowered by AI Education

As AI technology advances rapidly and new models emerge continuously, tech giants invest heavily in AI learning and applications. However, one university had already foreseen this trend in 2018 amidst the current AI boom. By introducing the “X+AI” concept, it integrated an interdisciplinary curriculum with AI-related technologies, paving the way for the development of well-rounded AI talent. That forward-thinking institution is ISU.
ISU’s “AidAnt Guardians” Wins Innovation Award in Design Competition, Pioneering Disaster Search Like Sci-Fi’s Ant-Man

The futuristic scenes of Ant-Man executing missions in sci-fi films may soon become a reality! The prestigious “2025 Great Design,” now in its 23rd year, saw outstanding performances from ISU. Pei-Han Su, a student from the Department of Creative Integrated Design under the College of Communication and Design, won an Honorable Mention in the Innovation and Technology category with the project AidAnt Guardians. This marks the fourth consecutive year that ISU has been recognized in the competition, highlighting its strong foundation and creative excellence in design.
ISU Enters into MOU with Comic Studio for Industry-Academic Collaboration

Kaohsiung is recognized as one of Taiwan’s leading cities in the cultural and creative industries. ISU is actively contributing to the city’s creative development as a key incubator of talent in this field. The university has signed a strategic alliance memorandum with Comic Studio, forming a strong partnership to promote digital cultural innovation, ACG (Animation, Comics, and Games), and professional training in the creative economy. This collaboration aims to cultivate a new generation of cultural and creative professionals and support the continued growth of Kaohsiung’s creative industry.
ISU Develops Eco-Friendly Grain-Based Cat Litter to Boost Sustainability and the Pet Economy

With the rise of the pet economy becoming a mainstream commercial trend, ISU is actively advancing its University SocialResponsibility (USR) initiatives. Under the College of Engineering, Dr. Chia-Jung Cho from the Department of Chemical Engineering is leading students in a project titled “Xinyuan Cultivation Core: New Circular Economy in Smart Sustainable Agriculture,” which focuses on environmental sustainability. The project transforms rice husks into eco-friendly pet products. Among the innovations developed by the students is an environmentally friendly grain-based cat litter featuring strong antibacterial properties, excellent absorbency, and effective odor control. The litter is biodegradable and flushable,
