NVIDIA Launches Seed Teachers Training at ISU

In early June this year, Jensen Huang, the “father of AI technology,” highlighted 17 key partner universities in his speech, with ISU being one of them. Just over a month later, ISU further strengthened its collaboration with NVIDIA by establishing a Studio equipped with the advanced NVIDIA Omniverse platform. This state-of-the-art facility provides cutting-edge support for the X+AI courses across ISU’s nine colleges. During the summer vacation, NVIDIA sent instructors to ISU to train seed teachers, ensuring they are well-prepared to guide students in integrating AI technology. As the new academic year begins, ISU is poised to enhance itself with a strong focus on AI.

On July 31, NVIDIA instructors arrived at ISU to lecture on NVIDIA’s recently promoted digital twin software, Omniverse. The lecture content included an introduction to Omniverse applications, the facial interaction suite Audio2Face, and the robot dynamics simulation suite Machinima. Combined with sensors and AI functions, these tools can be used to develop digital twin applications. A total of eight AI seed teachers from the College of Intelligent Science and Technology participated in the training. In preparation for the academic year 2024, ISU is set to make a breakthrough in AI learning experiences. Faculty members will be able to create highly realistic visual models, offering immersive teaching environments that allow students to engage in simulated learning without being physically present. This provides unprecedented learning opportunities for students. With upgrades in both software infrastructure and AI technology, ISU is dismantling geographical barriers and delivering a seamless learning experience.

In 2018, ISU took the lead in launching the “X+AI” interdisciplinary integration curriculum, requiring all students to complete AI-related courses, thus laying a solid foundation for cultivating comprehensive AI talent. In 2020, ISU established the College of Intelligent Science and Technology and introduced Taiwan’s second NVIDIA supercomputer. That same year, ISU partnered with NVIDIA and Gigabyte to create the first “NVIDIA Studio x GIGABYTE Collaboration Space” in Taiwan, providing robust software and hardware support for digital innovation. As Kaohsiung City emerges as a tech hub, ISU continues to serve as a training ground for tech talent in the city’s growing technological landscape.
