I-Shou University Partners with UMC, Yieh United Steel, and ASE for Internship Matchmaking: Using Internships as a Starting Point to Build Future Career Paths for Students

Under the comprehensive trend of higher education moving towards the “integration of learning and application,” I-Shou University (ISU) has created a “graduation means employment” transition path for students from campus to the workplace through a systematic career cultivation mechanism. Among these efforts, the Career Development Center has long promoted enterprise internship briefing sessions, becoming an important hub connecting industry and talent. The career cultivation strategy centered on internships not only highly aligns with ISU’s overall talent cultivation blueprint but also helps students grasp industry needs in advance, opening new starting points for their careers. Simultaneously, it matches enterprises with outstanding talent, establishing a win-win talent cultivation model for both industry and academia.

This semester, the Career Development Center partnered with three leading enterprises—United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC), Yieh United Steel Corporation, and Advanced Semiconductor Engineering (ASE)—to hold internship briefing sessions for the 115th academic year. Through personal sharing by enterprise representatives, the internship systems, job responsibilities, and future career development blueprints were comprehensively introduced, allowing students to accurately grasp industry trends and capability requirements before graduation. Such activities not only strengthen students’ strategic thinking about their future careers but also assist enterprises in planning talent cultivation in advance, facilitating highly efficient matchmaking for both parties. In addition, in recent years, ISU has invited the TSMC mobile recruitment vehicle to campus, providing students with on-site resume checkups and job interview matchmaking services, allowing the job-seeking process to begin early on campus. The large-scale campus job fair held in late March each year is an annual job-seeking highlight, where the university invites nearly a hundred enterprises to station on campus. This provides diverse job vacancies and immediate interview opportunities, assisting students in completing their career positioning and securing employment before graduation. From on-campus internships to a seamless transition into post-graduation employment, a fast and competitive career path is gradually constructed.

ISU’s achievements in cultivating professional talent have also been widely recognized by the corporate world. This year (2026), it was successively selected by 1111 Job Bank as the “No. 1 Private University Student Most Favored by Southern Enterprise Employers” and won double recognition as the “Champion of Southern Private Schools for Enterprises’ Favorite College Students and Interns” in the Global Views Monthly evaluation. ISU stated that this honor comes from employers’ high recognition of ISU’s talent cultivation results, and it is also attributed to the hard work and performance of current students and alumni across various industry sectors. Whether in the internship stage or officially entering the workplace, every ISU member continues to build a good reputation for their alma mater with professional ability and dedication. In response to the rapid changes in the industry in the new era, ISU adopts a multi-track talent cultivation strategy involving curriculum innovation, field establishment, and industry-academia cooperation. This allows students not only to learn theories in the classroom but also to practically operate high-end equipment, participate in simulated and real application scenarios, and connect with the industry’s most cutting-edge technologies. Students can also accumulate practical experience through internships or industry-academia cooperation projects in real industry contexts, cultivating immediate workplace readiness upon graduation.

With the advent of the AI era, ISU prospectively laid out its AI education as early as 2018, taking the lead in promoting the “X+AI” cross-disciplinary innovative curriculum, where “X” represents the professional core and “AI” symbolizes digital upgrading and innovation momentum. In 2025, it further launched the “X+AI 2.0 Thematic Course Group,” advancing the cultivation model from “Learning AI” to “Learning with AI,” strengthening students’ cross-disciplinary integration and practical application abilities. In the 2025 university survey by Global Views Monthly, ISU performed remarkably well in the two indicators of AI development capability and sustainable school management capability, and was rated as the “Most Promising Private University”. From a forward-looking layout to continuous leadership, from curriculum innovation to industry practical combat, ISU is committed to cultivating professional talent in various industry fields, accompanying every ISU student to stand at the industry starting line in the AI era and create a more competitive future career!!
