Amane: Tokyo to the Tides
Adventure Awaits
To expand her horizons and further her passion for the hospitality industry, Amane looked abroad for a genuinely unique internship experience. Through her research, the renowned 5-star hotel, the Conrad Maldives, stood out above the rest. Despite knowing that the position was hardly a guarantee, her mother’s love of traveling continued to inspire her. Through two grueling interviews and countless sleepless nights, her perseverance and preparation had paid off.
Island Adventures
As the only Japanese on the island, Amane endured countless challenges during her 6 months in the Maldives. Between simultaneously organizing over 20 groups of travelers and barriers in communication, the difficulties often seemed too great to surmount. Fueled by her immense passion for hospitality, Amane called upon her experiences at I-Shou University to propel her indomitable spirit. Daily interactions with international students gave her the confidence to overcome the frustrations of communicating with visitors and coworkers from different corners of the globe. By closely following in the footsteps of more experienced members at the Conrad Maldives, Amane quickly mastered juggling her busy schedule.

Coming from the pinnacle of urban landscapes, Amane’s journey through the Maldives offers a striking contrast to her childhood experiences in Tokyo. From the concrete jungle to the open sea, Amane carried with her the beautiful culture of her homeland. In introducing her guests to the culture of Japan amidst the landscape of the Maldives, she played a key role in providing her guests with the experience of a lifetime. As Amane bonded with her guests, it allowed her to receive numerous amounts of positive feedback and satisfaction from them. Each warm and appreciative message from her guests not only brought joy to Amane’s heart, but it also motivated her to pursue her career working in the tourism and hospitality industry in the future.
Through her adversities triumphed over and bonds forged, Amane cherished every moment in the Maldives. Driven by her eternal pursuit of kaizen, Amane deepened her understanding of hospitality and immersed herself in the magic of the Maldives. From snorkeling with sharks to diving with dolphins, Amane indulged in every experience provided by the Conrad Maldives.
Pathway of Progress
As Amane returns to I-Shou University and prepares to embark upon her next journey in life, the lessons learned and the hardships triumphed over will continue to guide her in the pursuit of her passions. Resolute in her spirit, Amane inspires us daily to overcome adversity and continue the path of kaizen in everything we do.
