International Foundation Program
A one-year foundation program designed to prepare international students for university studies in Taiwan through Chinese language training, academic skills, and cultural immersion.

Overview
International Foundation Program was established in 2022 in accordance with the Ministry of Education to cultivate young overseas students needed by the four major industries. International Foundation Program is a 1+4 program. One year for Pre-matriculation Mandarin Class Section and enter the 4-year special class after pass TOCFL A2.
The International Foundation Program helps international students strengthen their academic Mandarin, build essential study skills, and get ready for degree programs at Taiwanese universities. The curriculum blends language learning, subject preparation, and real cultural experiences to support a smooth transition into undergraduate study.
Career Opportunities
After completing the Mandarin foundation year and moving into their chosen major, students can build careers across engineering, technology, business, hospitality, and health-related industries. Taiwan’s strong high-tech and service sectors give students a solid advantage as they gain practical skills and academic training. Graduates can explore roles in manufacturing, digital technology, research, management, and customer-focused fields. This pathway sets students up for strong employability in both local and international job markets.
Program Learning Outcomes
After completing the one-year Mandarin program, students will be able to:
1. Communicate confidently in Mandarin
Understand and express ideas in everyday and academic settings, and participate in university-level courses delivered in Mandarin.
2. Apply fundamental academic skills
Use essential skills such as note-taking, presentation, basic research, and report writing needed for Bachelor’s degree studies.
3. Demonstrate cultural adaptability
Understand Taiwanese culture, campus life, and local communication styles, allowing students to adjust smoothly to their major program.
4. Build a foundation for major-specific learning
Gain the language, vocabulary, and foundational knowledge needed for engineering, technology, management, hospitality, or health science fields.
5. Work effectively in a multicultural environment
Collaborate with peers from different countries, develop teamwork habits, and build confidence in international academic settings.
6. Prepare for long-term academic success
Develop learning habits, self-management skills, and the discipline needed to progress through a full undergraduate program in Taiwan.
