ISU is demonstrating strong academic and research capacity and has risen to the international academic stage. The PhD program in the Department of Industrial Management has stepped beyond the campus and onto the global stage, using its research strength to engage with emerging international trends. In just two years, several doctoral students have won Best Paper Awards at international academic conferences; their research, ranging from healthcare and digital manufacturing to applications in carbon management, spans disciplines and addresses future challenges, with their interdisciplinary achievements repeatedly recognized. Meanwhile, the faculty members and students of the Department of Civil Engineering traveled to Japan from July 21 to 24 to hold the International Conference on Civil and Ecological Engineering, where they engaged in academic exchanges with scholars and experts from 18 countries, presenting Taiwan’s professional academic strengths to the world. Through these academic and research achievements, faculty members and students of ISU are showcasing the innovation and potential of Taiwan’s higher education on the international stage.

In 2025, doctoral student Pi-Chi Wu won the Best Paper Award at the International Association of Organizational Innovation (ICOI). Her research focused on corporate health management and nursing education, designing a health management information system and an emergency training program for newly recruited nurses, successfully integrating AI technology into organizational management and clinical practice. Notably, Wu had already won the same award at ICOI in 2024, and her consecutive victories highlight both her consistency and strong research capacity, bringing further recognition to ISU on the global stage. Responding to the worldwide drive for sustainability, ISU has also actively advanced research in this area. Doctoral student Hsuan-Lun Hsu, under the guidance of the National Science and Technology Council and in collaboration with National Yunlin University of Science and Technology, received the Best Poster Award at the Symposium on Sustainable Product and Industry Management for his study, “Deep Learning Applications in Supply Chain Carbon Reduction,” which demonstrated the innovative potential of integrating AI with sustainable supply chains. In another achievement, doctoral student Yu-Ching Chuang won the Best Paper Award in August 2024 at the International Conference on Genetic and Evolutionary Computing (ICGEC) in Miyazaki, Japan, for her research on applying Internet of Things (IoT) technology to carbon footprint management in agricultural machinery, addressing global trends in sustainable agriculture and innovative machinery management.

The award-winning achievements of these three doctoral students, spanning East and Southeast Asia, are not only personal honors but also reflect ISU’s strategy of combining international perspective with industry-academia integration, building a platform for cultivating high-level research talent in the Asia-Pacific region. ISU emphasizes a PhD curriculum centered on problem-based research and interdisciplinary team collaboration, while actively encouraging students to engage in international exchanges and overseas presentations, nurturing a new generation of researchers with global awareness, practical application skills, and industry-aligned vision.

The PhD programs of ISU have repeatedly achieved remarkable results on the international academic stage. In addition, the Department of Civil Engineering hosted the International Conference on Civil Engineering and Ecology in Japan from July 21 to 24, attracting over a hundred experts and scholars from 18 countries, showcasing ISU’s influence in the global academic community and its strong capacity to drive multinational research collaboration. ISU not only possesses substantial research capabilities but also actively cultivates professional talent, continuously expanding its global academic and research footprint.
